Will ‘Fugitive’ Patrick Jane Find Out if Red John Was Really Psychic?

After the ‘Red John’ episode of The Mentalist, Patrick Jane is now a wanted man. But that doesn’t stop him from rebuilding his life. As the CBS drama jumps two years into the future, the FBI's Dennis Abbott (Rockmond Dunbar) is still looking for the man who killed Red John, reports Enstars.

Although Jane (Simon Baker) is now secreted away in a South American country, series creator Bruno Heller tells TV Line that, not only will the faux psychic have to face the consequences of his crime, but the fate of his future is largely out of his hands.

However, Jane will still get to experience life free of the burden of finding his family's killer.

"In a very real sense, he's a happier person; a weight has been taken off his shoulders. In that way, a weight has been taken off the show," Heller told Entertainment Weekly. "So it's going to be the same show, to some degree, but a show with less darkness at the edges, and more freedom to roam. Jane has more freedom and a sense of possibility and liberty."

While the show won't be mentioning Red John anytime soon, there is one bit of the story that Heller may choose to revisit. Was Thomas McAllister (Xander Berkeley) really a psychic or was he given the names of Jane's Red John suspects via a mole from Jane's trusted companions?

Heller will leave "that thread dangling," according to TV Line.

When The Mentalist returns next Sunday with "My Blue Heaven," expect to see the former CBI team scattered while Jane buddies up with a new woman (a romantic angle in the works?)

  1. Will ‘Fugitive’ Patrick Jane Find Out if Red John Was Really Psychic?

Be it 2 years, 2 months, 2 weeks, I don't care, I will not be watching.

There was no reason to not tie things up with RJ now. In the future the only person I would want to know about is Cho, and we already know he is heading to the FBI. Rockmond Dunbar brings nothing to the table, just another hard ass "do as I say" attitude, reading (not acting) from a poorly conceived script.

Rigsby and Van Pelt could have left 3 seasons ago and it would not have made a difference. Giving the rest of this season to say goodbye to RigsPelt, Patrick is on the run, again,,, Lisbon is demoted, again,,, it's just a waste. There is no need for a season 7, it's all been done before.

Moving the show to Sundays and the delays from football is what caused the ratings to drop. Taking the rest of the season to have done this right would not have bothered true fans. After 5 years, their investment to the show would follow.

I've seen high school plays better written with better acting than the episode "Red John".

I'm sure I sound bitter, and I am. The only bright spot from the outcome of this finale was to finally shut up all the fools that thought Brett Partridge was RJ. Brett was a ghoul,,, and irksome,,, very very irksome. Thats all he was.

    1. Well, it's hard not to feel this way.

Heller gave us a face and no answers. And moreover - he is not going to (according to recent interviews). I found his attitude quite offensive, even though it's also a relief since RJ plot was frankly annoying and I was just looking for its (good quality) ending.

I was watching the show to collect clues. And I expected to get some answers, eventually. But now Heller desided not to deliver. It's clearlny not because of his special vision of 'RJ saga' ending (I mean... he even admitted that never had one - and only one...) but rather due to lack of logical, coherent explanation of the story.

I have the same opinion about the cast. The most interesting part of Dunbar's character is that he is wearing suit... Lisbon is just pathetic. Rigsby doesn't exist without Cho who actually may succeed (better off) alone.
