No Time Jump For Jisbon, Where Will Couple Be In Premiere?

Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon will still be new to the dating game when The Mentalist returns for season 7.

The CBS drama will only skip forwards a few weeks when it returns in 2015, according to TV Line. For Jane and Lisbon, the Jisbon relationship will still be in its infancy.

Despite the short time frame, the FBI team will undergo a little shakeup between "Blue Bird" and the confidently titled "Nothing But Blue Skies." Agent Emily Swallow's Kim Fischer is out, and Agent Abbott will bring in a young rookie as her replacement.

Played by Make It or Break It's Josie Loren, Agent Michelle Vega will be fresh out of the academy when she joins the Texas-based team. Although the newbie won't start off on good terms with Jane, TV Line reports that Loren has already been upped to the status of series regular.

Set to air in early 2015 on CBS, the seventh season will start off with "Nothing But Blue Skies" before heading into "The Greybar Hotel," "Orange Blossom Ice Cream," and " Pink Rocks."

Wedding Bells for Patrick and Teresa? Emily Swallow Leaving

The highly-rated police procedural drama series by CBS, "The Mentalist," has been speculated to return to television somewhere in September or October as filming for the upcoming seventh season has already begun, according to reports.

Show creator Bruno Heller revealed to The Hollywood Reporter some insights on what to expect in the forthcoming season, which will include a "satisfying conclusion."

"The pleasures of the show rests in the byplay between Robin [Tunney] and Simon [Baker]. Getting rid of Red John allowed us to focus on that human aspect of the show. Red John, as it turns out, was a convenience for Jane because it meant he didn't have to confront the rest of his life and what he's doing," he said.

With regards to the speculations whether fans could hear wedding bells for Simon Baker's Patrick Jane and Robin Tunney's Teresa Lisbon, the executive producer indicated that there will be resolution for those questions.

"After [Red John] goes, for both Lisbon and Jane, there is a palpable sense of 'What now? Do I really want to continue doing the same thing?' It left the two of them without an excuse to decide where that relationship was going. They had always been able to keep it separate. Those questions start bubbling up and the rest of the season was the resolution of those questions," Heller explained.

Meanwhile, Emily Swallow took to her social media to confirm the alleged news of her not returning to season 7.

After appearing to 14 episodes in "The Mentalist," Swallow, who plays an FBI agent named Kim Fischer, will leave the team. The site also speculated that there's likely another female character to take Fischer's place in the story.

Zap2It, on the other hand, indicated the return of Morena Baccarin as Erica Flynn, a matchmaker who murdered her husband. The character was last seen escaping from prison and later called Jane offering some information in exchange for pardon.

Emily Swallow Won't Return As Kim Fischer, Cast In Bravo Series

Emily Swallow will not return as Kim Fischer during season 7 of The Mentalist.

After only 14 episodes, the FBI agent will leave the team. Swallow confirmed recent rumors on Monday.

"Don't be sad! I'll still be popping up on your tv screen :)," Swallow tweeted in response to a concerned fan on Sunday.

The actress will indeed continue her TV career, this time on Bravo's Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce.

It is currently unknown why Swallow was written out of the upcoming season. The character of Jane Fischer only appeared in the post-Red John world, and it looks like another female agent will quickly take her place. Josie Loren will appear as rookie Agent Michelle Vega in the 13-episode seventh season, and she will probably be introduced in the premiere.

Filming for season 7 is already underway, with episode 3 ("Orange Blossom Ice Cream") already completed and episode 2 ("Graybar Hotel") currently in progress. The premiere, "Nothing But Blue Skies," will shoot next.

‘NYPD Blue,’ ‘Franklin & Bash’ alum to guest

Who is the latest actor joining the world of Patrick Jane? It’s someone who may already know a thing or two about solving cases on TV.

Per a post on her official Twitter, “NYPD Blue,” “The Jamie Foxx Show,” and “Franklin & Bash” actress Garcelle Beauvais is going to be guest-starring on an upcoming season 7 episode of “The Mentalist.” As for who she will be playing, all we can tell from some photo online is that she will be someone within the world of law enforcement. Her character has a badge, after all, and seems to mean business.

“The Mentalist” is still in the early stages of season 7 production, but has already taken a big risk in filming in some pretty public places. Luckily, they don’t have anything that spoiler-related that they necessary need to hide this early on in the season. We know that Jane and Lisbon now know how the other one feels, and we’re assuming that they’ll try to make a relationship work now. As for whether or not it will, that remains to still be seen (but we’re feeling hopeful).

Sadly, there is still no official premiere date for the show, but if we were one to guess, our assumption would be that the show will come on the air in either January or March. It’ll be the former if CBS has a show they want to replace on the schedule; meanwhile, it’ll be the latter if they have a good fall schedule and want to just air the show out until the May sweeps. There’s no confirmation that this is the final season, but that is our feeling going into it. (We’re fine with being pleasantly surprised later.)

Simon Baker To Direct, Which Episode Will Actor Take?

The Mentalist's Simon Baker will step behind the camera once more in season 7.

Despite the truncated season, Baker will double his work load by jumping in the director's chair. With only 13 episodes set to air in season 7, it won't be long before the actor has to start prepping for his second job.

Unfortunately, Baker's project is not quite set in stone. The CBS drama is still ironing out the details regarding which episode the Australian will take on.

"I think I better wait until it's nailed down a little better," said writer Jordan Harper when fans asked him for more details.

Baker is no stranger to taking the helm on The Mentalist - the actor has directed one episode a season since season 3. Starting with "Red Moon" in 2010, the actor went on to make "Blinking Red Light," "Red Sails in the Sunset," and the first post-Red John episode.

In the meantime, The Mentalist will kick off season 7 with "Nothing But Blue Skies," "The Graybar Hotel," and "Orange Blossom Ice Cream."

'The Mentalist' Season 7 Spoilers: Sociopath To Upset Jisbon? Erika Flynn Returns

The Mentalist's Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon better watch their backs; sociopath Erika Flynn is back and looking to drive a wedge into the newly created Jisbon relationship.

Played by Firefly's Morena Baccarin, Entertainment Weekly reports that Flynn will reappear in episode 3 of season 7. Guilty of murdering her husband, Flynn first appeared in season 3's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" and later escaped custody in Season 4's "War of the Roses."

When fans next see Erika, she will be overseas.

"Jane teams up with Erika Flynn in Beirut, Lebanon, where he and Lisbon have gone at the request of the CIA to take down an international weapons dealer," Entertainment Weekly reports. "Erika has agreed to help Jane and the CIA in exchange for a pardon on the murder charges she's still facing and the chance to return to the U.S. But as always Erika has agendas of her own, one of which may, or may not, be inserting herself between Jane and Lisbon."

Will this wily seductress wreck Jane (Simon Baker) and Lisbon's (Robin Tunney) relationship, or will the two investigators be wise enough to steer clear of her traps? Find out more when The Mentalist returns in 2015.

Morena Baccarin returning to 'The Mentalist'

Everybody’s favorite Firefly Companion and Homeland refugee is returning to CBS’ The Mentalist.

Morena Baccarin is coming back to the veteran crime drama for a guest star appearance in the third episode of season seven. She’ll reprise her role as sexy sociopath Erika Flynn, who previously manipulated and seduced Patrick Jane (Simon Baker).

Here’s the set-up: “Jane teams up with Erika Flynn in Beirut, Lebanon, where he and Lisbon have gone at the request of the CIA to take down an international weapons dealer. Erika has agreed to help Jane and the CIA in exchange for a pardon on the murder charges she’s still facing and the chance to return to the U.S. But as always Erika has agendas of her own, one of which may, or may not, be inserting herself between Jane and Lisbon.”

The Mentalist will return to CBS in midseason.

Filming Out Of Order, Which Episode Is First?

The Mentalist cast is back on set, but they are not filming for the season 7 premiere.

The CBS drama started rolling cameras on Wednesday for "Orange Blossom Ice Cream," but the actors are weaving their tales in a non-linear fashion.

"Episodes 1 and 2 aren't really the first two episodes," said writer Jordan Harper on Sunday. "We're shooting out of order right now."

Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) and his FBI pals have a long way to go before their mid-season premiere, so the program's late return to the studio and non-sequential schedule won't affect when the episodes air.

Whichever number episode the series is currently shooting will involve a bit of time in the FBI's Austin headquarters. Newcomer Agent Michelle Vega (Josie Loren) will join Agent Kimball Cho (Tim Kang), Agent Dennis Abbott (Rockmond Dunbar), and the sandy-haired Mentalist in the bullpen for these scenes.

It is unknown, however, whether or not Vega will be introduced in the premiere or if viewers will have to wait several episodes to meet her. Due to the short 13-episode season, the wait won't be overly long either way.

Production begins for Simon Baker, cast

If you’re a fan of “The Mentalist,” we certainly feel your pain when it comes to the lack of news and updates on the show right now. No one knows when the final season is going to premiere, at least other than the fact that it is not going to happen until at least midseason.

However, we can at least tell you this: Production is underway for Simon Baker and the cast! Filming started this past week, and will continue more than likely for at least the rest of this year. Thanks to a shorter 13-episode order, everyone will likely have more time off than they have since starting the show so many years ago.

As for what the story will revolve around, we’re sure that Patrick Jane’s personal life will suddenly become more of a focus after so much was put into his relationship with Lisbon. We’ll learn how they work as a couple, and also whether or not there is anything personally that ends up complicating their dynamic on the job. Of course, we’re sure that there is also going to be at least some sort of Big Bad-like character, even if it is not another Red John.

What the show will also be potentially feeling this season is a sense of closure. While it has not been confirmed necessarily that season 7 will be the last, the delay for a renewal this past spring, coupled with the current ratings in the 18-49 demographic, make that a likely possibility. The show may opt to come up with what will be a worthy ending for the show in the case that this is it, while also leaving a tiny crack open if there is another season at some point.
