Jane and Lisbon’s future in ‘Black Hearts’ (6x21, preview)
Next week on “The Mentalist,” we have a story in “Black Hearts” that is going to get closer and closer to trying to answer one key question: Are Jane and Lisbon going to be getting together soon? We are at least at a time now when it is clearer that Jane wants to make a move, but he has to figure out just what this move is going to be.
As the synopsis for this hour reveals, there is a story-of-the-week plot here (or really the continuation of the kidnapping ring) that some people may be interested in. But, at this point in the season, we imagine that the larger focus is on the prospective relationship, and how Lisbon is going to make a huge choice when it comes to whether or not she is going to take off with Agent Pike:
There is one thing to remember here when it comes to this “decision,” though. Even if Lisbon claims that she wants to move to DC, that does not mean that things are necessarily over between her and Jane. He is as creative a guy as things come, and the best thing for Simon Baker’s character could be is a challenge. He always tends to rise to the occasion, and by the time the finale airs, you may have all of the answers you are looking for.

Detalils on Jane, Lisbon and a big moment (6x22, synopsis)
“The Mentalist” has not had too many overarching plots the past several weeks, mostly because the story has been building primarily to one big reveal: Finding out whether or not Jane and Lisbon are going to have a real future. This moment will be revealed in full during “Blue Bird,” the season finale airing on Sunday, May 18. It’s also possible that this could sadly end up being the series finale, depending on what happens with CBS at the upfronts.
You may have heard some of the details in the synopsis below already, but we still argue that it is definitely worth sharing:
Yes, this synopsis does mostly give away that Lisbon decides to go away from Patrick and move forward with Pedro Pascal’s character, but you probably knew in all likelihood that this was coming anyway. Her relationship with Pike has taken off over the past several episodes, and since Jane has given her no reason to believe that there could be something more to the relationship, why would she stay?
The biggest reason to have hope here is because many with “The Mentalist” have described this finale as “romantic” already, and that is definitely classified as good news. If Simon Baker’s character can put the same sort of effort into his personal life that he does when it comes to solving crimes, there is potential there for him to make Lisbon extremely happy.

6x20: ‘Il Tavolo Blanco’ and Jane / Lisbon drama (preview)
The next new episode of the show is entitled “Il Tavolo Blanco,” which just so happens to be a really clever way of saying “The White Table” in Italian. So look at that: The color theme continues! You can also see the full synopsis from this hour via CBS below:
The situation that Jane has himself in now is a rather tricky one, mostly because he acted like Lisbon moving wasn’t a big deal … even though he knew in his heart that it was. He couldn’t bring himself to say the words yet, and that is all going to be up to figuring out now if he can. He’s not going to have a whole lot of time to that, so he better get to thinking fast about how to fix it.

Simon Baker’s surprise in ‘Brown Eyed Girls’
“The Mentalist” is slowly reeling us in to getting answers when it comes to Jane and Lisbon’s relationship, and next week’s “Brown Eyed Girls” may be another step on that journey. However, at the same time it looks as though the show is going to continue taking a long route to get there.
For example, next week looks to actually have one of the most emotional cases we’ve seen in some time courtesy of a smuggling ring, and Jane could struggle to figure out its origins and how to stop it. Not only that, but cases of this horrific nature tend to bring out emotions in everyone, whether you are talking about Lisbon, Fisher, or Abbott. You can take a look at the full synopsis for the episode below:
So unfortunately, this synopsis does not really succeed in saying anything other than some stuff that you already knew either based on the promo below, or the events that actually transpired in the episode tonight. Lisbon hasn’t seemed to make her mind yet regarding what Pike offered, and the question you really have to ponder right now is simple: Is moving to DC to be with this man something that is really that she wants to do, or is she waiting for Jane to make a move? Hopefully, we’ll get a big reveal soon by her that this is happening, and he will then take advantage of the opportunity to convince her to stay.

Simon Baker’s country-club fun (6x18 "Forest Green", synopsis)
Next week’s new episode of “The Mentalist” is entitled “Forest Green”, and based on what we’ve seen from the promo below and read from the synopsis, this is going to be more of an hour about people who have a very blue-sky philosophy on things. Patrick Jane is visiting a country club!
Just the idea of seeing Simon Baker’s character interacting with the 1% should be entertaining, since these are people who are very accustomed to a certain way of doing things. As for Jane, he always follows his own beaten path.
Now, we turn to the aforementioned synopsis:
It’s rather sad in a way that there is not too much more to discuss when it comes to the show right now, but that is just the way that “The Mentalist” operates from time to time. Another thing to keep in close consideration right now is that the show doesn’t want to give away any of its major shockers.
For those of you (like us) who do root for Jane and Lisbon, you do have to have some hope now that the pairing may actually be happening on the show now! Remember that “goodnight, Teresa” line? That has to be a step in the right direction. We just hope that the writers made the move to give us an additional moment before the end of the story, since we are otherwise going to be completely nuts if that doesn’t happen and we’re just left with what we have now.

A look at ‘Silver Wings of Time’ (6x17, preview)
When is “The Mentalist” returning to TV? After starting to get used to having new episodes every Sunday, you better be willing to wait again. The only good news here is that this time around, you are waiting for only one week.
When the show returns on April 17 with “Silver Wings of Time,” it will be telling a story that certainly has the makings of an emotional one. It is not an original idea at all to touch on a death-row inmate and the attempts of many to clear their name, but given that “The Mentalist” tends to give a twist for every story they present, you can most-likely expect the same thing here.
Not much is available on the inner details of this episode, but we can at least give you the short synopsis:
It is interesting to note that Pedro Pascal (Agent Pike) is not mentioned in the press release for this episode despite making his first appearance tonight and also his first attempt at romancing Lisbon. It’s possible that he could still appear (there’s no binding requirement for networks to disclose their recurring and guest cast), and they just didn’t want to give the outcome of “Violets” away. Regardless, we know that he has multiple appearances this season, so don’t expect that story to be over even if he is a no-show here.

6x16 "Violets" - Lisbon’s new love interest arrives (photo)
Next week on “The Mentalist,” the story is moving forward from being about Rigsby and Van Pelt to a couple that has been “will they or won’t they” for years: Jane and Lisbon. Unfortunately for you, there is probably not going to be the sort of quick-fix solution to this problem that you would be hoping for.
Instead, next week’s “Violets” introduces Pedro Pascal (“Game of Thrones“) as Agent Pike, a handsome man who Lisbon is going to be drawn to not long after the story begins. Could this cause some jealousy, or be a distraction from the case? We’ll just have to see how this all plans out, but for now, take a look at our full synopsis for the episode below:
While we understand there being some mixed emotions at the thought of a new man coming in and clouding up the picture, there is at least thing when it comes to a silver lining in it all: Watching Jane and Lisbon spend so much time together in the first place. This may feel like a very old-school episode of “The Mentalist,” which we have not really had since before the Red John case started to pick up steam earlier on in the season.

6x15 "White as the Driven Snow": Simon Baker’s Jane set to save Van Pelt? (spoilers, synopsis)
For those of you who love color-coordinated episodes of “The Mentalist,” stop and think about this for a minute. The show’s first new episode in over a month Sunday night is entitled “Black Helicopters,” and following that, we have another installment called “Grey Water.”
So moving into the third episode back on March 23, it only seems appropriate that we would move up to the next progression on the brightness scale with “White As the Drive Show.” We know that the writers love doing their color titles and have since the days of the original Red John case, but there is something more here in that these episodes are all tied together thanks to a larger story arc: An attempt by Jane to figure out just what is happening to some of the former members of the CBI. If you want to find out some more information on this subject, we suggest just taking a look at the full synopsis below (with a warning for some plot spoilers).
So basically, what you get out of this is that we are set to see the Van Pelt character as a kidnapping victim on this episode. Should you really be that surprised? We don’t think so, largely because you had to figure that at some point, there was going to be someone who ended up falling victim to some of this.
