TONIGHT’S MUST-SEE: “The Mentalist”

TONIGHT’S MUST-SEE (maybe): “The Mentalist” 10 p.m. (or later, with football overrun), CBS.

For five-plus years, Patrick Jane has pursued the man (Red John) who killed his wife, his daughter and more. Now he’s close; these next two episodes lead to one Nov. 24, when they come face-to-face.

There’s a catch, though: This hour was supposed to air last Sunday; when football had an extreme overrun, CBS gave up and replaced it with a rerun. It says it might have to do the same thing this week.

If it does air, however, you’ll see a fairly slow hour that packs big surprises in the final minutes.
