Series creator Bruno Heller teases "blue sky" the rest of the season.
Spoiler alert: This feature contains spoilers for those who have not seen the most recent Red John-centered episodes of "The Mentalist" Season 6. Read at your own risk.
Seven suspects were on Patrick Jane's list at the beginning of The Mentalist Season 6. A strong suspect among the viewers, Brett Partridge (Jack Plotnick), is dead by Episode 1. Another strong suspect with FBI ties, Bob Kirkland (Kevin Corrigan), is also dead. Jane has five suspects left. And three of them bear the mark of his latest clue.
Bruno Heller Teases the End Patrick Jane's Vendetta: Who is Red John?
"The first few episodes (of The Mentalist Season 6) are very much about the seven suspects. Beyond that point, it's all blue sky," 'The Mentalist' creator Bruno Heller told The Hollywood Reporter.
Heller expressed willingness to go on with the series after this year's big Red John reveal. "As long as people are enjoying the show," he said, "we're very happy to continue making it." But first, who is Red John?
"The Red John story is going to be moving at a very fast pace with no vamping, no tricks. Well, there'll be tricks, but we won't be fooling the audience or messing with them," Heller said. "No tricks" could convince the audience that Partridge may be really dead.
But what about "Tyger, Tyger" now? CBI Director Gale Bertram (Michael Gaston), FBI Agent Reede Smith (Drew Powell), and Napa County Sheriff Thomas McAllister (Xander Berkeley) have three dots in common. It seems the 3-dot tattoo from Kira Tinsley (Beth Riesgraf) did not immediately help Patrick Jane zero in on Red John. Was Kira killed by Red John, "Tyger, Tyger," or both?
'Tyger, Tyger' vs Visualize: Where does Red John belong to?
Many viewers are convinced that Red John is not one man, but a group of big bad evil characters. All the clues that Patrick Jane got -- from the blind Rosalind Harker (Alicia Witt) to the late psychiatrist Sophie Miller (Elisabeth Röhm) - may have not been a description of one person.
As for "Tyger, Tyger," is it an organization that Red John belongs to? Does it have anything against the other influential organization in the series, "Visualize?" Viewers are about to find out soon.
Two Visualize men, one of the "cult leader," bear no 3-dot tattoo. Visualize leader Bret Stiles (Malcolm McDowell), and former CBI supervising detective Ray Haffner (Reed Diamond) are either the strongest or the weakest Red John suspects at the end of Episode 6, "Fire and Brimstone." It depends on what "Tyger, Tyger" really is, and how it's connected to RJ.
The Mentalist Season 6 airs Sundays on the U.S. network CBS. Episode 8, "Red John," is the final chapter of Patrick Jane's vendetta. It airs Nov. 24. "My Blue Heaven" is the title of the Dec. 1 episode. It does sound like Heller's "blue sky" teaser - a post-crimson chapter.
