Every spring, there is one Sunday night where CBS pauses their action in order to bring you something that can be fairly frustrating for diehard fans of scripted TV. Then again, it’s something that country music fans also love: The Academy of Country Music Awards.
Thanks to this, there are no new episodes of “The Good Wife,” “The Amazing Race,” or “The Mentalist” tonight. For those of you hoping to catch up on some of these shows, this is going to be your real opportunity to do so. That is, if you are not already inundated with all of the other programming that is still on tonight. The premiere of “Game of Thrones” season 4 is obviously going to be the main event for so many other people out there, but there are some other shows out there such as “Once Upon a Time,” “Revenge,” and “Resurrection” that will still try to demand attention. AMC is smartly waiting a week before launching the new season of “Mad Men,” mostly because they in know way wanted to go up against any of this.
New episodes of the CBS series will resume next week, and while the time off tonight may be sad, you can still take a little solace in that they’ll be be back for the rest of the season without any further interruption. For “The Mentalist,” this may be even more important than with some of the other series, given that its odds of a renewal right now are not particularly great and it really needs to close out this season in style (especially if this ends up being the end of the road).
