Owain Yeoman: money, fame and finding new love (interview)
Hit actor Owain Yeoman has opened up on fame, money and his very unusual second marriage proposal after becoming an established star in the US.
The 34-year-old from Chepstow, who recently got engaged to a jewellery designer a year after his divorce from The Office star Lucy Davies, has just completed 100 episodes of the popular CBS crime series The Mentalist.
As well as being a big hit in America the show is being re-run all over the world.
But Yeoman says he has no plans to rest on his laurels or his big earnings, saying: “I rang my agent (after the 100th episode) and went ‘Brilliant, I’m set now aren’t I?’
“But it’s not what it used to be. Whether I can retire on to my own island or not, I don’t think I’m there just yet.”
The Mentalist stars Australian-born Simon Baker as Patrick Jane, a psychic who uses his powers to help the Californian Bureau of Investigation solve murders.
Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (Rada) and Oxford University English Literature graduate Yeoman, whose parents Mike and Hilary still live in South Wales, plays special agent Wayne Rigsby.
Speaking in an interview in Australia, where The Mentalist is a big hit, the Welsh actor was asked if he was treated as a “hotshot star” when he went back to Chepstow.
He said: “No, I’m put firmly back in my place when I get back to the pub, surrounded by old rugby friends who remind me acting is a great hobby.”
Asked if Americans were surprised to hear his Welsh accent off-screen, he added: “Yes, it’s a real compliment when people don’t realise I’m not from America.
“It also allows you to get out of a scrape quickly if someone recognises you in public and says ‘Are you that guy?’ And you say ‘No, no, I’m British.’”
In October this year – 12 months after his divorce from 39-year-old actress Lucy Davis, the daughter of comic Jasper Carrott who played love-lorn Dawn Tinsley in The Office – Yeoman got engaged to jewellery designer Gigi Yallouz, 27.
The couple had a “only in Los Angeles” first meeting last Spring.
Yeoman said: “Our cars pulled up opposite each other at a traffic light on Crescent Heights!
“We started dating after exchanging numbers.”
Of the engagement, he said: “It was quite a challenge picking out the ring as she is a jewellery designer after all.”
After selecting the diamond ring, the Welshman – a vegetarian who supports animal rights organisation Peta – enlisted the help of his French Bulldog Cash in asking for Gigi’s hand in marriage.
He explained: “I proposed at home by making a candlelit path of 500 rose petals to where Cash was holding a sign in his mouth saying ‘Will You Marry Him?’
“It took me quite some time to arrange before he understood that he wasn’t supposed to eat the sign!”
Yeoman, who now has more than 50,000 Twitter followers announced he and Gigi plan to marry in Malibu next year.
He thanked his Twitter followers for their congratulations, adding: “We are very happy.”
Yeoman, who previously starred in the movie Troy and in HBO’s marine corps drama Generation Kill, has been living in Los Angeles for nine years where he has fellow Welshsmen Ioan Gruffudd and Matthew Rhys, from Cardiff, for company.
Owain said: “We’ll watch the Six Nations rugby in Ioan’s garage, his ‘man cave’ where he entertains his mates.
“And Matt will occasionally start daydreaming of a fish and chip shop he wants us to open in Santa Monica. So if the acting doesn’t work out, at least we’ll all have something to fall back on.

Volker is back (5x11 & 5x12)
It has been already confirmed that Tommy Volker will reappear in next following episodes. 5x11 air date is 6th January 2013. It's only a year/month... Can't wait. I just hope the world doesn't end in 2012 ;].
Potwierdziło się, że w kolejnych dwóch odcinkach powróci postać Volkera. Data emisji następnego odcinka zapowiedziana jest na 6 stycznia 2013. To tylko rok/m-c. Nie mogę się doczekać. Należy mieć jedynie nadzieję, że 21.12.2012 koniec świata jednak nie nastąpi ;]

While waiting for a winter finale there's a capture from 5x11... I think it's this Volker-guy, or at least - I just wish it's him. We will find out eventually, not soon though.
Tymczasem czekając na zimowe zamknięcie Mentalisty, opublikowano taką oto scenę z odcinka 5x11... Myślicie, że facet ze zdjęcia to Volker? - Tak mi się wydaje, a przynajmniej tak bym chciała. Jak jest rzeczywiście - dowiemy się, ale zapewne nie wkrótce.

The Mentalist is aired in many different countries. Today I recommend you to see a Croatian sample of our favorite tv show. Don't get too exited it's one of old episodes promo.
It seems that in Croatia they don't use dubbing. - At least not in promo... Curious what they use instead. Subtitles? There has to be something, while it's easy to notice that croatian and english differs, even a lot. However it's a really huge shame to hear dubbing instead of Simon Baker's voice - so keep it that way Croatia! Bravo.

Mentalistę można obejrzeć w wielu krajach, jak wiemy - nawet w Polsce. W oczekiwaniu na kolejny odcinek polecam zerknąć na chorwacką odsłonę serialu. Uprzedzam - chodzi o stary odcinek.
Zdaje się, że w Chorwacji nie stosują dubbingu/lektora. Przynajmniej nie w promo. Ciekawe, co jest zamiast? Napisy? Musi 'coś' być, w końcu nie trudno zauważyć, że Chorwaci też swój język mają i to mocno odbiegający od angielskiego. Jakkolwiek by nie było, to wielka strata dubbingować Simona Bakera, więc duże brawa dla Chorwacji za tego nie robienie!

5x10 Panama Red
The death of a young botanist leads the team into the lucrative world of medical marijuana, while Cho’s work with the rapid response team brings him back into contact with Summer.
It occurs that this episode will serve as the winter finale for the series with new episodes set to air in January 2013.
Śledztwo w sprawie śmierci młodego botanika zaprowadzi zespół CBI do lukratywnego świata marihuany. Cho, za sprawą pracy w zespole szybkiego reagowania, ponownie nawiąże kontakt z Summer.
Zdaje się, że ten odcinek ma być swoistym zimowym finałem Mentalisty, jako że emisja kolejnych odcinków zapowiedziana jest dopiero na styczeń 2013.

The Mentalist‘s Lisbon met her match? (TV Line)
Dipping into the reader mailbag, Charlie asked for “something about Henry Ian Cusick’s character on The Mentalist. His first appearance was fantastic, and he has been so evil!” Not surprisingly, series boss Bruno Heller shares your enthusiasm for Lisbon’s own Red John. “It’s fun to take Lisbon down a path that Jane knows so well,” Heller shares with us. “She’s usually the voice of reason, keeping Jane in check when his Red John obsession goes too far, but in this case Lisbon is the one with the obsession. She feels responsible for the death of a woman that Volker killed and she’s determined to bring him down.” As for giving Cusick the choice role, Heller says the Lost alum has been “a revelation as Volker. He plays a titan of industry, a powerful figure who fancies himself untouchable due to his wealth and connections. Cusick has found a nice balance with the character, playing both the charm and the darkness underneath.” | TV Line odpowiada na prośbę widza o coś więcej odnośnie postaci, którą odgrywa Henry Ian Cusick. Widz tak uzasadnia swoją ciekawość: "Jego pierwsze pojawienie było fantastyczne, był wcieleniem zła!". Nic więc dziwnego, że twórca Mentalisty - Bruno Heller, podziela entuzjazm wobec doczekania się przez Lisbon własnego odpowiednika RJ. "To prawdziwa przyjemność, sprowadzić Lisbon na ścieżkę, którą tak świetnie zna PJ. To przecież ona jest zwykle głosem rozsądku, który trzyma PJ w ryzach, gdy w swojej obsesji na punkcie RJ idzie za daleko. A tym razem ta obsesja ogarnia Lisbon. Czuje się bowiem odpowiedzialna za śmierć kobiety, którą Volker zamordował i jest zdeterminowana by go złapać". Heller dodaje, iż obsadzenie aktora znanego z The Lost, okazało się być prawdziwą rewelacją. Henry Ian Cusick wciela się w Mentaliście w postać tytana biznesu - człowieka na tyle wpływowego, że ze względu na bogactwo i koneksje, uważa się za nietykalnego. Cusick, ciekawie balansuje postacią, która czaruje wdziękiem, a jednocześnie skrywa wewnętrzny mrok. |
